Projects for Children and Youth

Often children and teenagers are affected more by extreme poverty than even their parents. They grow up among violence, abuse, and a general hopelessness. Many take refuge in alcohol or drugs. Due to the lack of education and work many become criminals, terrorize entire neighborhoods or see prostitution as the only way to make enough money to survive.

Franklin, for example, was abandoned by his young mother briefly after he was born. Luckily his grand-parents took care of him. Still poverty and despair were overwhelming. Franklin had to sleep outside his grand-parents’ hut in a hole in the ground. He barely survived when a relative tried to drown him. When Franklin grew older he started drinking and stealing. Later he gave his heart to Jesus at a youth camp. Today he leads a small group at our partner church.

Chance e.V. wants to empower children and young people to lead a life marked by dignity, hope, and self-reliance. Some of our projects are:

Our sustainable self-help for children and young people is not only an investment in the future. It also improves the situation of many families now.
